Join Omaha Girls Rock on April 13th at Slowdown for the culmination of Omaha’s inaugural A Week And A Song Contest
$10 – Tickets / Facebook RSVP
What exactly is a song contest? That’s probably what you are asking yourself right now. Omaha bands, selected by hearnebraska.org and omahype.com, will have one week to write an original song. Portions of this writing process will captured on video and posted to the web, prior to the 13th.
The only catch is that the song will need to be related to a theme. With the performances taking place on April 13th, or Friday the 13th, we saw the writing on the wall, and knew the theme had to be superstition.
At Slowdown, all artists will perform a normal set, with the last song being their competition song. This is where you, the audience, come in. We are asking you to participate and vote for the best song. The winning band will get to send a lucky girl of their choice to the Omaha Girls Rock camp from July 30th – August 3rd.
So stay tuned artists/competitors will be added as we go along.
One final note, all proceeds raised will go towards funding the 2012 Omaha Girls Rock. Their mission is to give girls the confidence to use their voice through music education and performance.

Many thanks to the Omaha arts community for making this inaugural competition a reality.
